The Proving Grounds

Character Builder & Combat Resolver

Build your hero by the 2024 rules, bring in every book you already own and all of your homebrew, then let the Combat Resolver crunch every roll while your table does the fun part. Free, no account, nothing to install.

A fight in the Combat Resolver: initiative on the left, your character and everything they can do in the middle.

Your books. Already paid for.

You bought the book. Maybe twice already. Then the next app tells you owning it doesn't count, and you pay all over again.

Not here. Not ever. Hand a book you own to your AI assistant with our ready-made prompt, and it gives you back a Content Pack file. Upload it, and every class, subclass, species, background, feat, spell and item from that book is in the builder, and its monsters are in the Monster Roster. No store, no second purchase, no waiting months for someone else to add it.

Adding a Content Pack
Three steps: download the prompt, let your AI build the pack, upload it.

Homebrew that actually plays

Plenty of tools let you homebrew a spell or a magic item. Try making a whole new class and you hit a wall, or burn an evening filling in forms one feature at a time.

Here, your homebrew goes in the same way as a book: classes, subclasses, species, backgrounds, feats, spells, items and monsters, all from one file. And it doesn't just sit on the sheet as text. Its features come with rolls, durations and targets, so your homebrew hits just as hard in combat as anything official.

Keep everything organized in named batches and switch each one on or off for a campaign with a single click.

A builder that shows its work

Build by the 2024 rules: species, backgrounds, classes, subclasses, multiclassing, feats, spells and gear. Every number tells you where it comes from, so "why is my save +5?" has an answer right on the screen.

Need to bend the rules? Your DM handed out a bonus feat, or you want a spell from another list? Flip on Further Customization and do it. Anything beyond the rules is marked in red, so nobody has to guess what's homebrewed.

When you're done, print a clean character sheet, save it as a PDF, or send it straight to your DM and your party from your phone.

Combat that resolves itself

Click an attack or a spell, pick a target, and you're done. The Combat Resolver rolls it, applies Advantage, Resistance and saving throws, tracks Concentration, and counts down every effect as the rounds go by. Everything lands in the combat log, so nobody loses track of what happened.

No more pausing the game to look up a rule or recount a spell's duration. The tension never drops, and your table stays in the fight.

341 monsters, one click away

Search 341 stat blocks by name, creature type or Challenge Rating and drop them into the fight in one click. Initiative is rolled for you. Monsters from your Content Packs show up right alongside them.

Your table, online, in seconds

Start a session and share the link. Your players join from their own phones, tablets or laptops and everyone sees the fight as it happens. No accounts, no logins: just a player code.

Sessions are saved, so next week picks up right where you left off.

Your character in your pocket

Scan a QR code and your characters open on your phone, live. Swipe between them, track your Hit Points, take your turn, and everything stays in sync with the table. Every new code shuts off the old one, and the link ends when the session does.

Run it your way

The DM sets the house rules: turn timers, how rolls are made, whether players can undo their last action, tracking hands, spell components and ammunition, and exactly how much players see of your monsters. Call for a saving throw or ability check from anyone at the table with one button.

After the fight

When the dust settles, everyone gets a wrap-up: Experience Points to hand out, conditions to clear, ammunition to recover, a damage summary, and the moments you starred during the fight, ready for your session notes.

Free, and yours

No subscription and no account. Your characters save on your own device under your player code, and you can move them anywhere with a character file.
